Welcome to the North Ormesby Minstrels

The Sound Of Music 2000

The Sound of Music is one of the best known and most successful of the collaberations between Rodgers and Hammerstein. It has perhaps, been a victim of its own success and is not so often performed by amateur theatre these days. However we are sure you will be enchanted once again by the romantic tale of the uncertain postulant , Maria who is sent by the Mother Abbess to test her faith in the wider community and not only wins over the precocious von Trapp children, but also their aloof father, the Captain. The tender love story is set amongst the dramatic scenery of Austria and against their political turmoil of the "Anschluss" of 1938, which saw the Captain's beloved country being annexed by the aggressive power of Nazi Germany.
